Dr. Archelle Georgiou - physician, advocate, advisor & author.
If you head online to find out about Dr. Archelle Georgiou you'll learn that she's had quite the career in the medical field. Her accomplishments are numerous and very impressive. Everything from being the Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare where she dismantled many of the company’s legacy policies in order to minimize the bureaucratic burdens imposed on patients and physicians, to writing a book In February 2017, Healthcare Choices: 5 Steps to Getting the Medical Care You Want and Need. Archelle wrote Healthcare Choices to share the CARES model, an approach she developed to teach consumers how to make smart healthcare decisions that balance the best medical options with individual preferences.
Just these accomplishments alone could put Archelle in the #ladybadass category.
But it was her conversation with me about how she measures her impact in her career that intrigued me the most. Why she stepped away from the prestigious role at United Healthcare to carve a new path for herself. She graphs what matters to her (impacting individuals) against income over time and looks for where the graphed lines are out of synch. When they're out of synch it's time to take a hard look at what you're doing.. Yes, literally on a spreadsheet. I learned by doing this she's able to clearly understand how she's measuring HERSELF against HER personal metrics.
What an original, authentic and liberating way of evaluating your career.
