Crystal Paradis - Committed and Curious

Crystal Paradis.jpg

Crystal Paradis is a community activist, writer, feminist and the founder of the Feminist Oasis, based in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. Feminist Oasis is Promoting intersectional feminism through spaces and experiences.

Crystal is a native, resident and vocal champion of Portsmouth, NH. She is a writer, reader, and active organizer and volunteer. Throughout her career in marketing and communications, Crystal volunteered for a variety of community organizations, boards, projects and initiatives, both in communications and marketing advisory roles and as an outspoken advocate.

She has spoken out and taken action on a number of progressive and social justice issues, including organizing community conversations about the heroin epidemic, advocating for reproductive justice, writing about gun violence and taking ownership for how she spends her time and energies through values-centric work.

Crystal definitely knows how to keep busy and is a co-organizer of TEDxPiscataquaRiver, the Founder of Portsmouth Breakfast Club, started the #PortsmouthLOVE hashtag, publishes a weekly email newsletter on local events and community highlights called The #PortsmouthLOVE Letter, coordinates Seacoast Outright's annual PRIDE march in Portsmouth; organizes communities around political candidates and policies, and is on the governance board of Seacoast Social Media.

In 2015, Crystal was named one to watch in the #10toWatch Awards by Catapult Seacoast and SeacoastOnline.

In the summer and fall of the 2016 election, Crystal devoted 100% of her time as a field organizer in Exeter for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, working tirelessly to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. She consistently led the state with the highest number of active volunteers. Amid a national election that was a startling GOP sweep across many of the other swing states, Crystal was part of the team that helped ultimately win New Hampshire for Hillary Clinton, sent Maggie Hassan to the Senate, re-elected Carol Shea Porter and Annie Kuster to the House and gained seats for Democrats in the New Hampshire state house.

Finally Crystal tries to spend as much time outside as possible, and in the summer months can be often found riding her motorcycle, Susan, around the Seacoast.
