Alix Greenberg - Motivated and Artsy

What are your “and” words and why? Motivated and artsy - I've always had a passion for art, drawing and painting starting at a young age. I spent nearly a decade working in the Fine Art industry, with an M.A. from Christie's and a BFA from Cornell, as well as experience working at Skarstedt Gallery and with Peter Tunney. After my grandma, who I was so close with, passed away from pancreatic cancer, I realized that life is too short. I decided to start my company ArtSugar, partnering first with pancreatic research organization CodePurple Now to implement a socially responsible element into purchasing art. ArtSugar is a cutting-edge contemporary art retailer offering an exclusive assortment of striking framed prints from the most highly followed global artists on Instagram, and it's the only digital art platform to donate 5% of proceeds from every purchase to charity, with partners including City Harvest, ASPCA, Girls Who Code, and God’s Love We Deliver. I'm motivated every day to carry out ArtSugar's mission to offer affordable and exclusive framed prints by buzzworthy global artists, while giving back to a variety of amazing charities.

What you are known for saying / a quote from you. What does this quote mean to you, (or if it’s from someone else, why does it inspire you)? “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ― Oscar WildeWhat I love about art is that it allows people to express themselves in any way they want - people's unique personalities, inspirations and desires can shine through their artwork in so many different ways! I also love this quote because it reminds me to be authentic and show my true colors!

Which other Ladybadasses inspire you and why? My grandmother inspired me so much and made me realize that anything is possible. I am so happy to be a female entrepreneur incorporating two things I love into my business - art and philanthropy.

When did you first realize that you had some Ladybadassery in you? I've always had a drive to succeed but my confidence has definitely grown over the years! While starting my own business has come with its challenges, giving back to great causes and helping artists monetize their art efficiently keeps me excited and driven.

What keeps you motivated on days when you aren't quite feeling like a Ladybadass? I love yoga, meditation, and drawing & painting! These activities center me and bring me back on track.

What is your advice to other women who are trying to tap into their Ladybadassery? Be yourself, and don't be afraid to speak up! Women sometimes feel pressure to stay quiet and do whatever they're told, but it's important for them to speak up when they need to.
